Fire in Our Hearts
Jayshree Janu Kharpade (India)
Taken out of school at age seven to care for her brothers and work at a brick kiln, Jayshree Janu Kharpade from India fought for years to return to her education. Once allowed back, she quickly rose to the top of her class. Now 16, she uses her film to show the transformative social and economic power of educating girls in the developing world; a powerful call for equity, opportunity, and social justice.
