Walk on My Own
Ndèye Fatou Fall (Senegal)
Thirteen-year-old Ndèye Fatou Fall explores a historic cultural shift in her Senegalese village, which was among the first to publicly abandon child marriage and female genital cutting. By interviewing women who survived these practices, she documents how grassroots human rights education and community leadership transformed deeply entrenched social norms. Her film celebrates a new generation of West African women empowered to pursue their education, choose their own partners, and reclaim their futures.
