My Country is Tibet

Namgyal Wangchuk Trichen Lhagyari (Tibet)

Sixteen-year-old Namgyal Wangchuk Trichen Lhagyari, the only recognized descendant of Tibet’s first Dharma King, explores his unique role as a leader in exile. Living in Dharamsala, India, he represents a new generation caught between the peaceful traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and a desperate struggle for political freedom. His film documents the threat of cultural erasure and the difficult choices facing young Tibetans as they strive to preserve their ancient heritage and identity under the weight of repression and displacement.
